Shiny Mac OS X Leopard

There's been a photo going around of a banner at the location of Apple's WWDC next week. There's not much new in the banner except for an image of a disc for OS X Leopard. The look of the disc is as stylish as something you would expect from Apple, with a continuation of Apple's trend towards shininess and the color black.

What I honestly find surprising, however, is the continued trend towards shininess. While Apple has been moving in that direction for some time, I fully expected them to turn 180 with Leopard simply to differentiate themselves from the glass-heavy Vista. I expected them to move more towards subtle gradients, like what you see with the buttons and list box in iPhoto's image editor.

Oh well, I'm still psyched to see what they show off on Monday.
