It's been one week since I got my iPhone (almost to the minute), and I gotta say that I love this thing. Ever since I got it I've had a hard time going to bed any earlier than two in the morning. People can complain about tiny little details all they want, but in my opinion this phone is just about the coolest piece of technology I've ever used.
I could go on endlessly about the individual features for some time, but to do so would be to miss what really makes this phone awesome: the experience. The touchscreen and the pervasive use of animation truly elevates this phone beyond anything I've ever used before. Think about science fiction movies and television shows for a while and what do you always see? People using flat, touchscreen devices that animate when people touch them. In sci-fi, computer displays don't just jump from one state to the next when interacted with, they slide and fade between states. What I'm trying to say is that, in my opinion, this isn't the next step towards science fiction, this is science fiction. In my opinion, 2007 marks a really pivotal year in computing, up there with the likes of the introductions of the Macintosh and Windows 95.
